If you haven’t upgraded or purchased it yet, I wouldn’t hesitate with this update as it really has most of the essential features for a comprehensive hub solution and great alternative to Lightroom. It’s FREE to current users of Photo Raw 2018 and on sale for new users and those upgrading. On March 1st ON1 Photo Raw got a major update with some really useful features I’ve been pining for since 2018 was first released. My chart (below near the end) addresses capabilities, efficiency and accuracy which all contribute to the fun factor! And the opposite will lead to frustration and spending too much time trying to reach your imaging goals. An intuitive interface with images that open up with proper color and a workflow from start to finish that is fast and efficient will all lead to a more enjoyable experience. If you don’t enjoy working on your images then it ceases to be fun. Let’s face it, processing your images is an integral part of photography. ![]() The main factors are efficiency (aka your time), interface, and accuracy all leading to perhaps the most important factor, enjoyment. This review is geared towards factors that add or take away from the potential enjoyment you receive from processing your images. ![]() I also tested the software in this review with several other file types (and have included Sony in the charts) so that the information will be useful to shooters of every brand. *I focused on the Fuji (RAF/X-Trans) raw format in this review as it has proven the most challenging. They are Luminar 2018 (v1.1.1) and Topaz Studio (v1.8.X) for the former category and ON1 Photo Raw 2018 (v2018.1) and Lightroom Classic CC (v7.2) for the latter. I’m covering a couple different categories of raw processors: Two optimized for single image processing and two that are more comprehensive hub type solutions with image management capabilities. With the Latest Raw Processors* plus Comparison Chart There’s A Lot More To It Than Quality Efficiency, Accuracy and Enjoyment ![]() ![]() ![]() Nonetheless, this solution Céline found is useful to consider, not necessarily for that specific service itself, but as a capability to add to one's workflow infrastructure. domains (free & ISP-provided)? I've been involved in those silly debates dozens of times in the past 15+ years, though they are largely a waste of time. How many still don't "get it" and do business with e-mail accounts on the, web.de, gmx.com, gmx.de,, , etc. From what I've see so far, however, e-mail is still a weak link with these and should probably have integrated public key encryption features in the future for those who need to use Thank you for raising those points :-) While I've seldom been one to cut corners for useful infrastructure (except servers, which I've managed not to get right in 20+ years), as you have probably noticed, translators are among the most self-destructive people I know when it comes to basic investments and expenditures to improve their business and business image. That's another reason I have grow to like solutions like OTM that offer encrypted uploads and downloads of project files. (As an aside, I hate dealing with encrypted e-mail - one client of mine insisted that I use a system developed by the German government, and most of the time it managed to crash my PC. E-mail itself is rather insecure, and many companies who go bonkers with making contractors sign NDAs then compromise confidentiality themselves by sending critical content in unencrypted mail. Kevin Lossner Septem9:50 I'll leave the detailed legal opinions to the attorneys among us, but suitable declarations or disclaimers displayed together with the number may address some of that. I used to use a fax modem many years ago for similar reasons, but faxes have become such a rare thing in my business over the past decade that I haven't bothered about such solutions in a long time. I can see this being useful when I'm travelling or to save me the trouble of re-scanning faxes for OCR purposes. It's an interesting application and one for which I can see some integration possibilities with other applications I use, such as LSP.net's Online Translation Manager. ![]() I haven't looked into the security issues with the site yet I'll probably be appalled when I do. A few minutes later I received copies of the faxes as e-mail attachments. In just a few minutes I could see TIFF files for the faxes on the account area on the web site. My best guess was somewhere in the UK, so I tried faxing from my real landline fax number, adding the +44 prefix to the number from the web page. However, the web page that communicated this information didn't say where it was local. ![]() Signing up took a few minutes, then I was give a local telephone number to use for receiving faxes. I followed the link out of curiosity and decided to give it a try. While browsing the blogs of various colleagues, I ran into an interesting note from Céline Graciet mentioning her use of a free fax to e-mail service as part of a planned move to the UK. ![]() ![]() In other words 50 2x4 foot boxes were pushed down upwards of eight feet into bedrock and then filled with concrete. This Ask for Confirmation is not strictly necessary as the next step also has a cancel option. I also put in some description to state that more than one file can be selected and passed to exiftool, and what happens if one or more folders are selected. This may help in case someone runs it by mistake, so they can see what's happening and cancel as needed. I put the text "Add ≥1 Keywords into that tag for photo(s)" (without the quotes) into the message area, telling anyone who runs it that this app adds to the Keywords tag of one or more photos. When you do that it will present a dialog to complete. I'd advise dragging over Ask for Confirmation first. To create your app you'll drag from the list nearest the panel into the panel itself. Once you've selected Workflow, ensure you're in the Actions tab (over on the top left), and you'll see 2 lists on the left, and a panel on the right. I'd advise starting off with a Workflow as that's easy to edit, and can be saved as an app when you no longer need to change anything. The mean is a measure of the central location for the data. The mean, often called the average, is computed by adding all the data values for a variable and dividing the sum by the number of data values. The mean, median, mode, percentiles, range, variance, and standard deviation are the most commonly used numerical measures for quantitative data. "Now, the expectation of privacy that we've had before Big Data, and our parents had, has been pulled away." "If you cut school, everyone knew it by dinner. "When I grew up in Greensborough, Alabama, the population was 1,200," said Jim Adler, chief privacy officer and general manager of data systems at the information commerce firm Intelius. "People seek privacy so that they can make themselves vulnerable in order to gain something: personal support, knowledge, friendship," she said at the Expectations of privacy are being renegotiated. Privacy is not about control over personal data, according to the web theorist Danah Boyd, but the control individuals think they have. "They have no idea that it will be sold to third parties." So users continue to populate databases such as Social Calendar with increasingly valuable personal information that, as commercial property, can be transferred to a new company with a different privacy ethos. "People give out their data often without thinking about it," said the European commission vice-president Viviane Reding. And last month, police in New York used a photo from Facebook in combination with their own photo files and facial recognition software to arrest a man for attempted murder. In an infamous case in 2006, anonymised search terms released into the public domain by AOL were quickly de-anonymised, identifying individual searchers. "Though one has to be very careful to verify quality and balance it with human expertise and intuition." The girl, who had not registered her pregnancy with the chain, had been identified by a system that looked for pregnancy patterns in her purchase behaviour. In one recent high-profile example, a Minneapolis man discovered his teenage daughter was pregnant because coupons for baby food and clothing were arriving at his address from the US superstore Target. Yet their conclusions can trip into areas that require human sensibilities to truly understand their implications. Big Data proponents view this as an opportunity to observe behaviours in real time, draw real-time conclusions and affect real-time change. The systems used to parse, synthesise, assimilate and make sense of the information are starting to make sophisticated connections and learn patterns. The analysed intelligence is then sold to governments, which can act accordingly. For example, Pax, an experimental system developed by the documentary maker and historian Brian Lapping, predicts the conditions for uprisings using aggregated search terms in different regions of the world. In a trend that is remarkably similar to the plotline of Philip K Dick's Minority Report, Big Data is being used to predict social unrest or criminal intent. "Given enough data, intelligence and power, corporations and government can connect dots in ways that only previously existed in science fiction," said Alexander Howard, government 2.0 correspondent at the technology publisher O'Reilly Media. Google's recent privacy policy change has integrated the various accounts an individual maintains, creating a single profile that includes intentions from its search engine and the connections identified from its social network Google+ preferences and interests from mail, documents or YouTube and location from its maps and mobile phone operating system.Īggregated, this data can prove powerful. Its holdings include more than 800m records about who's in a user's social circle, relationship information, likes, dislikes, public and private messages and even physiological characteristics. Facebook's projected $100bn value is based on the data it offers people who want to exploit its social graph. The most important thing for data holders in the Big Data age is the kind of information they have access to. From the status updates, friendship connections and preferences generated by Facebook and Twitter to search strings on Google, locations on mobile phones and purchasing history on store cards, this is data that's too big to compute easily, yet is so rich that it is being used by institutions in the public and private sectors to identify what people want before they are even aware they want it. The second decade of the 21st century is epitomised by Big Data. ![]() ![]() ![]() If you wish to make a complaint you can do so at any time by referring the matter to either: The Customer Services Department, This insurance may be cancelled within fourteen (14) days of inception of cover provided the certificate of insurance and purchase receipt are returned to the issuing Jeweller within this period and no claim has been made.Ĭover beyond the period of this insurance may be arranged through T H March & Co Limited or via COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE The Purchaser or Owner whose name and address is shown on the purchase receipt.
